Podophyllotoxin

Podophyllotoxin is a lignan found in podophyllum and other plants (see under May apple).

Podophyllotoxin has shown growth-retarding and embryocidal properties on experimental animals. It also has been shown to have antitumor properties and is used therapeutically as an antineoplastic agent.
