Provitamin A Carotenoid

Provitamin A carotenoids are inactive substances found in plant pigments which can be transformed by the body into vitamin A.

Deep yellow plant pigments contain alpha-, beta-, and gamma-carotene. Of the three, beta-carotene is the most important in human nutrition, as it is the most common precursor of vitamin A.
