The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the flowers are blooming... the ragweed and pollen are thriving!
Ah, yes. Spring is upon us, meaning we can come out of hibernation and enjoy nature once again. Yet for 20% of the U.S. population, the great outdoors can mean dry itchy eyes, swollen sinuses, a pounding head, and sneezing. After a snowy winter, many climates will have allergens that are much higher than normal this spring. There is no need to run and hide from nature! Face allergies head on with a strong allergy defense.

Anti-Inflammatory Foods
The basic way to relieve hay fever is by avoiding foods that increase allergies and suppress immunity; such as, refined carbohydrates, dairy, sugar, processed foods, red meat, eggs, poultry, and shellfish. These foods can trigger inflammation and mucus production. Instead, consume foods that fight inflammation.
Omega-3's:
Flaxseed oil,
almonds,
wild Alaskan salmon, etc...
all offer anti-inflammatory properties.
Berries:
Blueberries contain anthocyanidins, which boost immunity and decrease inflammation. In addition, eating more raspberries, blackberries, cranberries, and strawberries can have similar benefits.
Spice it up:
Ginger - reduces mucus, inflammation and clears sinuses
Garlic - increases immunity and reduces candidiasis (which increases allergies)
Onions - contain quercetin, a natural antihistamine
Turmeric - contains curcumin, a strong anti-inflammatory
