Full Liquid Diet

Full Liquid Diet

Description

The Full Liquid Diet is a diet which is an intermediate between the clear liquid diet and mechanical soft diet in characteristics. It provides more calories than the clear liquid diet, but is still liquid in the stomach and intestinal tract which is essential for patients who cannot chew or swallow solid foods.

Full Liquid Diet is deficient in several nutrients including niacin, folacin and iron. If the patient remains on this diet more than two days, a vitamin and mineral supplement is required.
