Erucic Acid

Erucic Acid

Erucic acid, a compound found in mustard and rapeseed (canola) oil. It is reported to raise liver and heart lipid levels and decrease the rate of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthesis by mitochondria in heart tissue in laboratory animals.

Erucic acid when combined with oleic acid forms the combination known as "Lorenzo's oil".
