Peristalsis
Peristalsis is a progressive, wave like movement which occurs involuntarily in the hollow tubes of the body, particularly in the alimentary canal.
Peristalsis aids the digestive process by mixing food particles with gastric secretions, thereby increasing the rate of chemical activity.
