Thyroxine

Thyroxine

Thyroxine is a crystalline substance, containing iodine, isolated from the thyroid gland and possessing the properties of thyroid extract. It has also been synthesized. It is used in cases of defective function of the thyroid, such as Cretinism and myxoedema.
