On top of that, another 34 percent are overweight. That means over 60 percent of American adults are tipping the scales. Nutra Lean, helps tip them back in the more healthy direction. NUTRA Lean can help you reach desired weight goals, while improving overall health and well-being. Offering a well-balanced combination of vitamins and minerals, NUTRA Lean also includes: 1) Cinnamon and Gymnema Sylvestre to support blood sugar levels; 2) Hoodia Gordonii and Super Citrimax® (Garcinia Cambogia) to help stabilize appetite and body weight; 3) Green Tea to promote thermogenesis, which enhances the body’s fat oxidation capacity. Nutra Lean is a valuable addition to a lifestyle supporting a healthy weight. ResearchChromium Chromium Picolinate, a bio-available form of chromium, is an essential trace element that has glucose-balancing effects to fight cravings and balance weight. Chromium levels are often lower in individuals with insulin weaknesses suggesting balanced amounts are needed to maintain blood sugar levels.1 A review of 15 clinical trials found significant improvement in insulin levels was correlated with Chromium Picolinate.2 One study recruited 37 patients with insulin ailments to take Chromium Picolinate with an insulin drug or placebo with an insulin drug. Researchers found that adding Chromium Picolinate to insulin therapy significantly balanced glucose levels, improved insulin sensitivity, and lessened body weight and fat accumulation.3 An animal study found Chromium Picolinate improved insulin function in obese rats suggesting this mineral is a valuable aid in managing weight.4 In addition, Chromium Picolinate significantly improved carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in rats with insulin ailments.5 Cinnamon Cinnamon is a small tree grown in India, Sri Lanka, and Brazil, and is one of the oldest known spices. One teaspoon of cinnamon contains a healthy dose of manganese, calcium, fiber, and iron. This potent spice provides many health benefits such as: aiding digestion, improving circulation, increasing energy, and regulating blood sugar.6 Cinnamon extract was administered to overweight patients in a water-soluble form to determine the effects on blood sugar and body composition. Researchers found that cinnamon significantly improved body composition and glucose levels. It was suggested that cinnamon may decrease insulin and cardiovascular risks associated with weight problems.7 A group of researchers studied the effects of cinnamon extract on blood sugar levels after eating a meal. Healthy subjects were recruited to consume rice pudding with or without cinnamon. Subjects that consumed the rice pudding (300 mg) and cinnamon (6 mg) had a lower glucose response, then subjects that did not consume cinnamon.8 A six-week study found that cinnamon extract improved glucose and insulin levels in mice with blood sugar ailments. Researchers suggested that these effects could be associated with cinnamon’s ability to suppress high glucose levels and slow the absorption of carbohydrates in the small intestine.9 Additionally, cinnamon extract was administered to rats fed a high-fructose diet for three weeks. Results indicated that cinnamon extract improved insulin regulation, when compared to the placebo group. Researchers suggested cinnamon extract could enhance insulin signaling to stabilize blood sugar.10 Garcinia Cambogia (Super Citrimax®) As a pumpkin-shaped fruit, native to India, Garcinia Cambogia contains Hydroxycitric Acid, a natural compound that is effective in suppressing the appetite and reducing fat accumulation. A study published in Current Therapeutic Research saw a 5-6% decline in body weight and BMI after 8 weeks of treatment.11 Various animal studies have reviewed the effects of Garcinia Cambogia on metabolic function. The progression of inflammation, oxidative stress, and insulin resistance was observed in overweight rats. Researchers discovered these unhealthy factors were lower in rats treated with Garcinia Cambogia compared to the placebo group.12 Similarly, a three-month treatment observed the effects of Garcinia Cambogia on body weight in rats finding a significant reduction in body weight was achieved in the treatment group, when compared to the placebo.13 The effect of Garcinia Cambogia on excessive lipid formation was also reviewed discovering HDL cholesterol levels and accumulation of adipose tissue decreased in rats.14 Green Tea Green Tea is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which has thermogenic and fat oxidizing capabilities. Green Tea has been an effective aid for fat oxidation, weight management, and insulin sensitivity.15 Men and women with excessive visceral fat were given Green Tea for 12 weeks finding a decrease in fat and overall body weight was greater than the control group.16 Glucose tolerance and fat oxidation were measured in moderate-intensity exercise subjects taking Green Tea extract. Results indicated fat oxidation levels (17%) and glucose sensitivity (13%) were higher after taking Green Tea extract, when compared to the placebo.30 Combining Green Tea extract with an exercise routine increased fat oxidation in the liver and skeletal muscles, and decreased weight in mice consuming a high-fat diet.17 Furthermore, Green Tea extract stimulated fat oxidation to improve exercise endurance capacity in mice. Researchers indicated exercise endurance was 30% higher in mice taking Green Tea extract, as metabolic capacity and fat utilization increased to improve skeletal muscle energy.18, 19 Gymnema Sylvestre Gymnema sylvestre, a woody, vine-like plant found in India, contains gymnemic acids that are active compounds for managing weight and blood sugar levels.20 The active compounds that are found in Gymnema Sylvestre reduced blood glucose levels in mice.21 A three-week animal study found Gymnema Sylvestre influenced lipid metabolism by balancing cholesterol levels in rats fed a high-fat or normal-fat diet.22 A similar study found Gymnema Sylvestre reduced circulating fat and cholesterol to benefit weight management.23 Furthermore, Gymnema Sylvestre has been shown to suppress sugar-cravings, as its active compounds are similarly shaped to sugar molecules lessening the need to taste sweet or bitter foods.24 Hoodia Gordonii Hoodia Gordonii, a cactus grown in South Africa, was used by San Bushmen of the Kalahari desert to suppress appetite during long hunting excursions. Hoodia Gordonii contains P57, a molecular compound that helps the hypothalamus think the stomach is full. Animal studies have found Hoodia reduced appetite in lean and obese rats. Overweight rats experienced significant weight loss, while lean rats had a moderate suppression of appetite.25 Furthermore, Hoodia was compared to a weight loss drug finding food consumption and weight greatly decreased in rats taking Hoodia. In comparison, the weight loss drug slightly suppressed appetite, but did not decrease body weight.26 L-Carnitine (L-Carnipure®) L-CarniPure®, also known as L-Carnitine, is an essential amino acid in the fat burning process. Crucial to transporting long-chain fatty acids through mitochondria, L-Carnitine also moves stored body fat and triglycerides into the bloodstream to be used for energy. It is synthesized in the kidneys and liver by lysine and methionine, two essential amino acids, and resides mainly in the muscle tissue. One study observed the effects of L-CarniPure® on long-chain fatty acid oxidation in healthy adults with 1 gram per t.i.d for 10 days. Results showed an increase in fat oxidation among subjects receiving L-CarniPure®; therefore, L-CarniPure® aided fat metabolism.27 Another study sustained these findings suggesting L-CarniPure significantly influenced fat oxidation in overweight subjects. Subjects that received 3 gram per d of L-CarniPure® for 10 days had an increase in fat oxidation, in other words the fat stored in the body was used efficiently for energy.28 Additional Information – Dosage & Interactions Suggested Use: As a dietary supplement, take three capsules daily, or as directed by a physician.
