Description
CEDARWOOD (Texas) (Juniperus ashei)
Family: Cupressaceae.
Source: Distilled from the heartwood and wood shavings.
Fragrance: Sweet, tar-like odor.
General description and habitat: Texas, Southwest United States and Mexico.
Principal constituents: Cedrene, cedrol, sabinene, thujopsene.
History
History and folk use: Native Americans used cedarwood for skin rashes.
Properties & Uses
General properties: Antiseptic, antispasmodic, astringent, diuretic, expectorant, sedative, stimulant.
Uses:

| Leukorrhea, | Nervous tension, |
| Rheumatism, | Skin care (acne, dandruff, exczema ). |
Contraindications
Relatively non-toxic for external use but may cause irritation for some.
Avoid during pregnancy.
It is not approved by the FDA for internal consumption.
