Family: Lauraceae (Laurel)
Source: Chopped Brazilian wood.
Fragrance: Woody, spicy, rose-like floral.
Volatility: Middle note
General description and habitat:
Tropical evergreen, native to Brazil and Peru, an example of deforestation, therefore, environmentally damaging.
Principal constituents: Cineol, citronella, geraniol, limonene, linalol, pinene, terpineol.
History
History and folk use:
Best-known from French furniture and now, Japanese chopsticks.
A good deodorant.

General properties: Antidepressant, calming, cellular stimulant.
