Description
Bamboo shoot are the tender, young branch of the bamboo plant. It is commonly used in oriental cooking, but lacks significant amounts of any nutrients, except for potassium.
Young bamboo shoots are covered with very sharp, fine hairs which must be removed to prevent gastrointestinal injury, such as intestinal perforation.
