Acetic Acid
Acetic acid, the oxidation product of ethanol and, in pure form is capable of causing burns. It is primarily an acidifying agent in pharmaceutical aids. In diluted form, acetic acid is used as a bactericide for many microorganisms. It is extremely spermicidal. For medical purposes, a 1% solution is sometimes used for surgical dressings.
