Alantolactone
Alantolactone is a volatile oil found in elecampane and is responsible for many of elecampane's pharmaceutical uses.
Alantolactone raises the blood sugar level in large doses and lowers it in small doses.
It also expels intestinal worms. Among the lactones, alantolactone is one of the highest in bactericidal and fungicidal properties.
