Addison's Disease
Addison's disease is a condition characterized by the deficient secretion of adrenocorticol hormones. Symptoms include a bronze-like pigmentation of the skin, severe prostration, progressive anemia, low blood pressure (hypotension) diarrhea, and digestive disturbance; it is due to disease (hypofunction) of the adrenal glands and, in absence of replacement therapy (cortisol), is usually fatal. Called also melasma suprarenale and bronzed disease.
