Antioxidant effects
Kombucha tea may significantly prevent results of oxidative damage. Rats were treated with chromate to induce oxidative stress, which increased levels of malondialdehyde and reduced glutathione levels in controls. However, rats that were also give Kombucha tea did not exhibit oxidative stress induced by chromate, but instead experienced enhanced immune humoral response and delayed hypersensitivity compared to controls. Results therefore indicate that kombuchu tea may act as an antioxidant and improve immune function in rats.
