Hypertension
Cordyceps sinensis (CS) may directly relax the arterial wall, causing arterial dilation and therefore lowering blood pressure. Rats were injected with CS and examined for arterial pressure and vasorelaxation. CS-injected mice exhibited significant reductions in mean arterial pressure and increased vasorelaxation mediated by the endothelium. Researchers hypothesize that vasorelaxation occurs through stimulation of nitric oxide release.
